The all-new electric grand tourer received the highest coveted 5* rating after rigorous testing under 2026 protocols and following Euro NCAP’s extensive upgrades on vehicle safety assessment.
The all-new Zeekr 7GT has been awarded a 5* Euro NCAP safety rating, following rigorous testing under the organisation’s new 2026 assessment protocols. One of the first cars to be submitted for the 2026 assessment, which Euro NCAP describes as the most significant overhaul of its rating methodology since 2009, the Zeekr 7GT achieved exceptional scores across NCAP’s four stages of safety: Crash Protection, Post-Crash Safety, Crash Avoidance, and Safe Driving.
The 7GT is among the first vehicles to be assessed under the new framework, which substantially changes how cars are tested and scored, and marks an ongoing commitment to safety and exceptional performance from Zeekr. The 5* rating announcement comes as Zeekr 7GTs hit European roads in full force, following their launch earlier in the year.
Strong results across all four categories
For Zeekr, true safety goes beyond protecting occupants in a collision. It begins with helping drivers avoid accidents whenever possible through intelligent active safety technologies, while ensuring robust occupant protection should a collision become unavoidable.
From 2026, Euro NCAP structures its assessments around four stages of safety: Crash Protection, Post-Crash Safety, Crash Avoidance, and Safe Driving. Each category is scored out of 100 points, and minimum thresholds apply. The new protocol moves testing significantly closer to real-world conditions and across a wider range of occupant profiles – including senior adults and children – and introduces additional requirements for electric vehicles, including the safe isolation of high-voltage batteries following a collision.
The Zeekr 7GT achieved strong results across all four stages. Particularly notable was its performance in Post-Crash Safety, scoring 95%, and Crash Protection, achieving 93%, as well as Crash Avoidance, receiving 89%, and a 79% convincing result in the Safe Driving section. The results confirm both the structural robustness of the 7GT and the effectiveness of its active safety systems.
Dr. Aled Williams, Programme Director for Euro NCAP, said:
"The 2026 protocols further strengthen the rigor and relevance of our tests, rewarding vehicles that perform well across all stages of safety, before, during, and after a crash. A 5* result highlights an exceptional standard of safety, demonstrated by Zeekr across comprehensive testing protocols. We congratulate the Zeekr 7GT team on this exceptional result – one of the first in our more stringent 2026 testing protocols. "
Safety built in from the start
For Zeekr, this result reflects an approach to safety that starts long before any test takes place. Safety is integrated into product development from the earliest stages, before engineering decisions are made and before components are specified. To demonstrate the robustness of the 7GT’s safety performance, Zeekr submitted more than 70 technical reports to Euro NCAP to validate that the results are consistent and repeatable across a range of real-world conditions.
The 5* result for the Zeekr 7GT underlines the brand’s commitment to meeting the highest independent safety standards as it continues to expand its presence across global markets.
