Kuala Lumpur, 24 January 2026 – Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia has taken home one of the highest honours in Malaysia’s automotive industry, with the Zeekr 009 Ultra Luxury named Overall Malaysia Car of the Year 2025. The 009 also picked up awards for Best xEV of the Year and MPV xEV of the Year, while the Zeekr 7X AWD Performance was named SUV of the Year in the RM200,000 to RM500,000 category.
The Malaysia Car of the Year (MCOTY) Awards, regarded as one of the most credible automotive honours in Malaysia – due to its independent judging panel which includes professional drivers, automotive journalists and industry professionals – reinforces Zeekr’s growing recognition as a premium electric mobility leader in Malaysia.
Winners are selected through a rigorous judging process which evaluates vehicles across eight criteria namely appearance, safety, ergonomics, value for money, practicality, performance, energy efficiency and warranty coverage.
The Zeekr 009 Ultra Luxury stood out for its innovative design, cutting-edge safety and technological features, and its blend of refined luxury and sustainable mobility.
A Significant Milestone for Zeekr Malaysia
The MCOTY win comes at a time of strong momentum for Zeekr in Malaysia.In December 2025, the company celebrated its 2,000th vehicle delivery, and based on JPJ registration data, Zeekr closed the year with 2,560 vehicles delivered nationwide, reflecting strong brand acceptance among Malaysian consumers.

A Win That Reflects Industry Confidence towards Electric Vehicles
For more than two decades, MCOTY has identified the best new models each year and has been a barometer of the shifting trends in the local automotive industry. The growing presence of electric vehicles among the winners signals the automotive industry's ongoing shift towards smart and sustainable mobility. In particular, the market saw record highs in battery-electric vehicle registrations toward the end of 2025.
The Car of the Year Awards first started in 2002 by a group of automotive journalists with the aim to select the best cars available on the market and to publish a guide for readers. It has since become an annual event and in 2023, was re-branded Malaysia Car of the Year. The longest-running event of its type in Malaysia, MCOTY is organized in collaboration with the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), a driving force under the Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI).
